Black & White traditional film photography printed by just about every method over the last 35 years. I still use the original negative frame as the border for my images.

15 years I have captured rural Midwest, stylize through a trademark editing technique, print myself using archival inks and papers, mount on cradled wood panels and varnish with UV protected varnish. Limited ed. Award winning.

My images are long exposures at night while lighting the scene with battery powered colored lights - they are not digital effects. Thru my lighting, these dark corners become beautiful, theatrical and almost whimsical versions of the real world.
The final photos are archival inkjet or metal prints.

I try to bring back a different view of places I travel so that people can find familiarity in places that are far different from what they are accustomed to.

At the heart of it all my work revolves around nature and my ever changing connection with it. My digital photographs are subject to two main categories. First is my more traditional landscapes, consisting of places around the world, mostly our national parks, these are places that pull me closer to the natural world and help inspire me. Sometimes I have to hike days into the backcountry to reach these places, bringing several lenses and a tripod. My other work involves a deeper exploration into my relationship with nature. I use long exposure photography to create abstract photos of landscapes, where I move my camera like I'm painting on a canvas. I view these images as a collaboration with myself and the landscape itself, injecting my influence onto the scene. The result is a landscape that is neither entirely real nor entirely false. My work is printed on traditional photo papers and on canvas.

Photos of LIVE Red-Eyed tree frogs, photographed mostly in a studio setting, using miniature props, flowers and other items. Realistic-looking props are sometimes held in place with wires, and frogs are coaxed into position. Pictures are made with a camera, NOT a computer. These are live animals.

A successful image sets a mood, and creates an emotional response. This is my goal. There is more to a moment than what you see with your eyes. There are your thoughts at the time, the sounds, smells, what you touch...and more. All of these are real and integral to my photography.
I use multiple in-camera methods to achieve my goal: using lens, homemade pinhole, and vintage 1950's cameras. All my images are captured in natural light.

People always ask artists why they do their artwork, and there is a lot of pressure to have a mind-blowing and existential answer. For me, at least, it is simple. I do it because it is fun and I enjoy it. As long as those two things stay true, I will continue to shoot photography.
To put it altogether, my aim is to capture scenes that people want to have in their homes. Whether this is by a meticulous use of advanced techniques and methods to capture the natural beauty of a scene. Or solely shear patience when waiting for the right set of conditions. Although I spend a lot of time planning photo shoots, sometimes the best moments are the ones that take me by surprise.

My artistic passion is to share the beauty, uniqueness and intricate detail of Europe. I strive to go beyond photographs that document a location to images that allow the viewer to subjectively feel and experience a scene (through light, texture, pattern, color and motion) as I did. To ensure the highest quality, I personally perform all the creative aspects of my work. Each limited-edition photograph is self-printed using archival pigment inks on heavyweight 100% cotton archival paper or canvas. This combination produces prints of great brilliance and detail that exceed museum standards for longevity. All artistic and technical decisions - from the moment the photograph is taken to the final printing process - are made to produce the most compelling and creative work-of-art.

My color photographs include subjects from intimate flower portraits to the old world charm of European scenes. The photographs are printed with a conventional RA-4 process-- although the way I print is far from conventional using many self-devised darkroom techniques.

Medium format camera with traditional photographic techniques are used to create unique fine art imagery with only minor adjustments made outside the moment. Photos are printed by the artist using archival ink on transparent paper & face mounted onto acrylic. The transparent quality of the paper allows the texture & luminosity of the print to glow under different lighting. All artwork is signed and numbered.

With black&white film, I create Gelatin Silver Photographs by hand printing the image in a traditional wet darkroom. Then on my work table, I hand paint each individually with a liquid solution, colored pencils & spooled cotton. Next my images are framed in salvaged materials reworked & enhanced making a one of a kind piece.

In a competitive landscape photography world, I aim to photograph images rarely or never captured at familiar and unfamiliar places.
I’m a self-taught photographer from White Bear Lake who simply used two tools, passion and practice, to photograph the fascinating natural world and it’s immense and detailed beauty. I’ve been privileged to have a photography mentor since 2018 pouring into my craft. I’ve never considered myself an artist but I am excited and humbled every time a photograph brings delight to another.
My goal is to spend as much time in the field photographing as I can. This means I limit my time in the post-processing stage. I’m not a digital artist, not a photoshop guru, and not a post processor. While those can also be good things, I’m a photographer and will travel as many times as it takes to get the right lighting, sky or desired composition. My successes are printed primarily on aluminum metal and slate stone for others to enjoy.

I specialize in photographing personality in animals using Nikon D850, long telephoto lenses, wide angle lenses, underwater housing and much patience. Most of my subjects are photographed in the wild, but occasionally will find subjects at rescues or zoos. All photographs are printed on photo paper and canvas using archival materials.
