2023 Booth #26
I sketch my composition very lightly in pencil. I begin to add the black ink dots one at a time. Tones and depth are added through the placement of dots. At this point, the artwork begins to come to life. Shadows and depth can be seen by the variation of how close the dots are placed in correlation to one another. I apply my dots of ink to a white piece of illustration board using a Rapidograph technical pen. My collection also includes some works with a touch of color and black ink in the style of pointillism. I demonstrate by working on a current piece of art during shows. I have been creating my artwork in the style of pointillism for over 30 years. My collection of 250 pieces include many commissioned projects from all over the United States. All works of art are created with passion, patience and persistence with each piece taking 20 to 40 hours to complete. Pointillism is also referred to as stippling, was introduced by French artist Georges Seurat in the late 1800’s.
